This weekend I went to London to see two different women. One of them, Louise, is a very old friend of mine who I met at university. We both remember smiling at each other across a lecture hall; later that day we went for coffee and talked for hours, and I knew right away that here was a girl much like me.. talks too much, is into cosmic shit, and wears the kind of clothes a ceramics teacher might wear. We have been very close since then and we lived together at university too, sharing tuna mayonnaise pasta right out of the pan and playing each other cool music. She was one of the first people I ever photographed, and I still find her cosmic to look at now.
And then there was Frankie, an Aussie chick that I met way back when I was living in a backpacker's hostel in Adelaide. Her boyfriend was staying in the same hostel and she came to visit, and I just took one look at her and was like... I need to know this girl. Frankie is probably the most stylish woman I know. She really commits to looking fucking fantastic, all the time. And like most Australians, she has a lightness of spirit that I love; we walked around the park and talked for a while, and it was a gorgeous breath of fresh air.
I have these two women in my life because they're communicative and vibrant. It's a cliche, but people like that are worth investing in.
